About the Moslescroft Parish Council Logo
"It is believed that there were Minster Sanctuary CRosses beside both the Malton or Driffield Roads. A cross said in the 12th Century to stand beyond Molescroft, elsewhere being described as standing beyond the valley at Molescroft (ultra vallem Mollescrofte), may have been the same as the Grith or Stone cross, recorded from c. 1300, which stood beside the Stone Cross Gate. In the 16th century Leland described the position to Leconfield Park, evidently on the Driffield Road, and he referred to another cross near Cherry Burton" - Taken from http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=35455
These crosses no longer exist but the St Mary's Cemetry contains several memorials that could well have been modelled on the sanctuary crosses that would have been on the Malton and Driffield Roads. The Parish Council logo is based on these memorials.
