Tomorrows Youth

What it is?

The main aim of the project is to encourage and enable older people (over 50) to be able to socialise and spend more time out of their homes.

The project enables people to meet others and make new friends.  There is also an opportunity to take general exercise through a range of fun activities and sport, for example, table tennis; walking netball; dominoes and various art activities.

Transport is arranged through Beverley lift who provide community transport services.

Although the scheme is based at the Pavilion in Molescroft all residents from Beverley and Tickton are welcome to attend (subject to available space)

It is hoped that the level of social isolation in older people will be reduced thereby helping older people to have a healthier independent lifestyle.

Who attends?

Mixed group, varying abilities and age over 50. Councillors Fleming and Heffer facilitate the sessions.

Why it works?

Interactive; social and light hearted. Presents an opportunity to meet new and like-minded people outside of the home.
