Petanque comes to Molescroft

Petanque comes to Molescroft

You may or may not have heard of Petanque but it is a game of growing popularity and it is coming to a place near you!

Molescroft Parish Council is delighted to have secured funding to help build a Petanque playing area within the grounds of Molescroft Pavilion. This will be an open access area for players of all abilities but will be of a special construction with two playing areas known as terrains. Essentially it is a simple but challenging game where players try to outscore opponents by leaving their metal boule closer to the wooden ‘jack’. Perhaps you have played on holiday? There will also be seating areas and the offer of equipment to help budding players get a feel for the sport.

It is a game of growing popularity in the East Riding area with a number of clubs and teams. Petanque is even tipped to become an Olympic sport! So budding players watch this space and enjoy this fantastic new amenity. Work will commence Summer 2019.
