Petanque

Molescroft Beverley Petanque Club (MBPC) held their annual triples competition on 12th May where members of the club were joined by players from across the Yorkshire Petanque region for a full day of play. Players from Huddersfield, Heckmondwike, Stockton Fox, Hollicarrs, Bridlington and Brandesburton clubs joined with 15 MBPC members to make up 14 teams to take part in the day.

The eventual winners of the main prize were a team from the Stockton Fox Petanque club, which is based in the village of Stockton-on-the Forest, near York.  The plate competition was won by a MBPC team comprising of Barry Gatewood, Eric Johnstone, and Mike Cooper.

The next major Yorkshire Petanque competition day to be hosted by MBPC at their home terrain within Molescroft Pavilion grounds will be held on Sunday 23rd June when players from across Yorkshire will compete to become Yorkshire Triples Champions for 2024.  The event will commence at 10.00 am and spectators are most welcome.   Anyone interested to know more about the game of Petanque is invited to attend a club afternoon (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 1.30 pm) or visit the MBPC website at http://molescroftbeverleypetanque.club/
