Your Council Tax Bill and the Parish Council Precept

Molescroft pc red cross

By now Molescroft residents will be receiving their Council Tax Bills and will notice an amount paid to the Parish Council as part of the Council Tax Base which is called the Parish Council Precept.  This is money which Parish Councils across the country will use to finance various commitments which may include, street lighting, grass cutting, parks and green space maintenance, property management and bus shelters.  The precept is also used by Parish Councils to finance any capital projects Cllrs are working on.  Each year, all Parish Councils must decide if they wish to increase the precept amount, keep it as it is or even lower it, depending on their respective commitments.

For this coming financial year, Molescroft Parish Council is pleased to advise that after due consideration Cllrs have determined not to increase the precept, acknowledging that many families continue to face daily struggles in a climate where prices and costs all seem to be increasing.

That does not mean that the Parish Council will not continue to invest in our local community and we shall use our reserve to finance capital projects which will benefit and enhance our Parish – the Parish Council is currently working on prioritising its projects for the forthcoming years, and Cllrs would warmly welcome residents attending the monthly meetings, either to speak to Cllrs (during a designated public speaking session) or simply to sit and observe.

Our meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, commencing at 7pm and held in the Molescroft Pavilion.  You don’t have to book and can just turn up and listen to how important decisions, which affect everyone are reached.
